We created Wallace Underpinning to focus exclusively on foundations. We specialize in foundations and basements, including underpinning, foundation repair, leaking foundations, and seismic retrofitting.

Jeff Wallace (Owner and Operations Lead)
Jeff has specialized in basement lowering and structural repair since 2011. He’s your point person for estimates and meetings, as well as overseeing operations, management, and quality control. He’s a family man who values making homes safer and more functional. He thrives helping project engineers with innovative solutions and takes pride in his team’s quality standards and professionalism. It always makes Jeff’s day when he hears his clients are so satisfied, they’ve either referred their friends, or they want to collaborate on new work sites.
​
His entrepreneurial spirit started early—creating, and selling model homes at the age of 12. Prior to starting his own construction company, he worked for Quinton Construction, completing heritage home renovations and new home construction in Vancouver’s most affluent neighborhoods. He studied Commerce at Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business and completed the BCIT carpentry program.

His friends and family tease him about his hair, his love for watches, and his Hawaiian shirts. When he’s not making basements awesome, you can find him lifting weights, preparing for big weekend dinners with extended family, and offending his daughter with his singing.
Anabela Soares (Owner and Business Administration Lead)
Anabela co-owns Wallace Underpinning. She’s a business administration powerhouse who’s been working in the construction industry since 2001.
​
She brings her characteristic drive, immaculate organization, and efficiency to everything she does, and she’s an agile and creative problem-solver. Her vast toolkit includes business administration, finance and accounting, supply-chain coordination, contracts administration, and human resources. When you call Wallace Underpinning, there’s a good chance you’ll have the pleasure of experiencing Bela’s bubbly joy and gratitude firsthand.
​
She’s worked alongside many extraordinary individuals throughout her demanding career. Prior to this, she worked with the Delta Land Development (Delta Group) and personally contributed to many major projects in the downtown core—including Hotel Georgia, Hawksworth Restaurant, and Bel Café. She previously worked for the BC Construction Safety Alliance and applies these best practices to their businesses. She has multiple safety designations, including Level C First Aid, WHMIS, and OHS. Bela attended BCIT for her Business Management Certification. She received the President’s Award as a member of the Association of Administrative Assistants. Bonus: she’s fully fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Outside of work, Bela unwinds with Adam Sandler comedies, electronic indie music, and time at the gym. She lives by the motto ‘laughter is good for the soul,’ and guiltily indulges her full-fledged Post-It note dependence. She adores spending time with her main man (Jeff Wallace) and their beautiful daughter—whose happy whirlwind keeps the Soares-Wallace household pretty darn exciting.
